Top 5 Upcoming RTX Gaming Laptops With Expected Launch Dates And Price

2/4/2021

RTX 3000 series laptops are all set to launch within a few weeks in India. There were some great laptops which come out last year which are expected to be refreshed this year with the latest RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080 graphics chips along with AMD's 😃 and Intel's 🙂 newest H series processors.

These are the top 5 most awaited gaming laptops (IMO):

HP Omen 15

The HP Omen 15 was one of the best budget gaming laptops released in India in 2020. It came with a great, good looking chassis, awesome thermals, and a long lasting battery. All in a relatively portable, and lightweight chassis.

HP is expected to release the HP Omen 15 2021 by April-May. There should be atleast one RTX 3060 model paired with AMD's Ryzen 5 5600H along with a 1650 Ti and 1660 Ti model (yeah, Nvidia's sticking with those GPUs for the budget range this year).

Prices are expected to start from ~75k for the 1650 Ti model, and go up to or even more than ~2 lakhs for the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 laptops (if they release in India). I will update this post with the links to these laptops as and when they release.

Asus Tuf Gaming A15

The Asus Tuf Gaming A15 2020 was quite a controversial laptop when it released last year. Asus tried out an unconventional way of cooling which kinda backfired as the laptops ran really hot. Nonetheless, it packed really good hardware for the price. and turned out to be a pretty successful laptop in India. Asus has reportedly fixed those issues and we should surely see a far better Tuf lineup this year.

Asus is also expected to release the Tuf Gaming A15 2021 by April-May paired with the latest AMD processors. Just like last year, Asus should be launching a plethora of SKUs of the Tuf A15 this year.

Prices are expected starting from ~60k for the 1650 variant to ~1-1.2 lakhs for the RTX 3060 variant and more for the higher end variants.

Asus Tuf Gaming A15 2021 released! This is the RTX 3060 (90 + 5 W) + R7-5800H variant, priced at 1.04 lakhs. It will be available for purchase on Amazon anytime soon.

Lenovo Legion 5

The Lenovo Legion 5 2020, to be honest, had a pretty abysmal launch in India. This laptop had a lot of potential and was arguably the best gaming laptop of 2020 (abroad). However, it launched very late in India (december), and for some reason, Lenovo decided not to launch any RTX variants nor a 1660 Ti variant. Even the 1650 Ti which did release was not competively priced as in other markets like the US. Hopefully, Lenovo will bring all the variants of the Legion 5 2021 to India 🤞.

Lenovo is going to launch the Legion 5 2021 in India most probably in H2. It seems pretty likely that they will be launching an RTX 3000 series variant, though it can't be said for sure.

Expect to pay a premium of ~10-20k over the other budget options for the Legion 5. In some cases it may be worth it as the Legion 5 comes with an awesome chassis, great cooling, etc.

Acer Nitro 5

The Acer Nitro 5 2020 was pretty late to the party but still managed to pack a punch due to the value for money it offered. The design looks quite "gamery" and old fashioned and will certainly not be appreciated by many folks. Sadly, they also took Lenovo's route by not releasing any RTX variants last year.

The Acer Nitro 5 could be releasing as early as March this year in India as per a few responses from Acer India on Twitter. It would be great if that happens! Acer should be releasing an RTX variant since they skipped them last year.

Prices should be starting from ~70k for the 1650 Ti variant to ~1-1.2 lakhs for the RTX 3060 variant (if they release it 🤞).

Acer Nitro 5 2021 released! This is the RTX 3060 (80 + 5 W) + i5-10300H variant, priced at 90k. It is available for purchase on Amazon and Acer India's website. The other variants are yet to be released.

Acer Nitro 5 2021 Ryzen 5 5600H Variant released! Priced at just 95k, this seems to be the obvious choice over the i5 variant of the Acer Nitro 5.

MSI GF65 Thin

The MSI GF65 Thin 2020, if I remember correctly, was the cheapest RTX 2060 laptop in India last year. Sure, it had a lower powered RTX 2060 (not Max-Q), and an Intel i7 chip, but it came in a very thin and light package, weighing just 1.86 kgs. During sales it was available for under 90k (Partly because the components were from 2019), which is a great deal.

MSI will continue to use Intel's chip in this year's model as well (bummer). But it could still be a good deal if they price the laptop appropriately.

Currently there is no word about when MSI plans to bring the GF65 Thin 2021 to India. I will update this post as and when we recieve information about it.

Bottom Line

I urge you to take all this information with a grain of salt 🧂. It's a well known fact that Nvidia and AMD are struggling to produce their latest chips and manufacturers worldwide are facing supply shortages. This means that product launches could be delayed and some models may never even release in India. You may have to wait for a few weeks after launch for the prices of these new laptops to come down.
